WASHINGTON — WLIT 106 Radio has named Autumn-Joi Barrett as its new general manager, a leadership appointment announced as the station celebrates reaching its 1 millionth stream.
Barrett brings decades of experience in radio and television, spanning on-air hosting, programming strategy, talent development, and station leadership. Over the years, she has worked in multiple major markets, building a reputation for audience-focused programming and mentorship of emerging media professionals.
WLIT 106 Radio officials said Barrett’s background uniquely positions her to guide the station during a period of growth, particularly as digital streaming continues to expand the outlet’s reach across the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia region.
Throughout her career, Barrett has held roles both behind the scenes and on the air, gaining experience in content creation, brand development and community engagement. Colleagues have credited her with fostering inclusive work environments and helping develop on-air talent while maintaining strong connections with listeners.
In her new role, Barrett will oversee daily operations and lead the station’s 25-member team. Her responsibilities include strategic planning, programming oversight and expanding community partnerships, while continuing efforts to grow the LIT 106 brand.
Barrett will also remain on air as the station’s midday host, connecting with listeners Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Station leadership said her continued on-air presence reflects a hands-on management style and reinforces her long-standing relationship with the audience.
“First, God gets ALL the glory and I’m honored to step into this role while continuing to do what I love — serving our listeners and leading the LIT 106 family into its next chapter,” Barrett said in a statement.
Autumn-Joi Barrett is expected to focus on innovative programming and audience engagement as WLIT 106 builds on its recent streaming milestone and looks toward its next phase of growth.
