BlerdCon Announces Janelle Monáe as Celebrity Guest Following the Passing of Tony Todd

BlerdCon has announced that the multifaceted artist Janelle Monáe will be a featured guest at their upcoming 2025 convention, following the recent passing of esteemed actor Tony Todd. Janelle Monáe, renowned as a singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress, has received ten Grammy Award nominations and accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Children’s and Family Emmy Award.

Tony Todd, celebrated for his iconic role in the “Candyman” film series, passed away on November 6, 2024, at his Los Angeles residence. His career spanned over four decades, with notable performances in films such as “Platoon,” “The Rock,” and the “Final Destination” series.

BlerdCon, known for celebrating Black nerd culture and inclusivity, had previously hosted Tony Todd, who was a cherished figure within the community. His contributions to the horror genre and his support for diverse representation in media left an indelible mark on fans and attendees.
